Parasomnia: These episodes are called sleep paralysis. It occurs when REM atonia (normal paralysis during dreaming), extends into partial wakefullness state. Happens to most people on rare occassion. If frequent, can be associated with sleep apnea and narcolepsy. Please visit with your doctor.
