Thumb pain: Seems to be inflamation of sheath tendon or sprain of tendon. Do not do any activity that makes your pain worse. If it does not get better in 2-3 weeks, see doc.

Could be tendinitis: there may be more than one etiology of this but my first consideration would be tendinitis, The pattern going down the arm to suggest this and we need to know where on the arm you feel the tenderness.
