Ive pain in my neck when i try to move extends to elbow and then little finger and thumb feel dull ache in them. also have pain under my shoulder blade. have not fallen/strained myself just woke in morning with pains. could it be a trapped nerve?

Could be. It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It would be prudent to see a doctor, preferably a rheumatologist. Wish you good health!

Although cannot be precise regarding underlying diagnosis, your description would be consistent with a cervical radicular process due to a problem with nerve compression in neck, but an acute brachial plexitis could also be an answer. Best this be examined directly by your doctor. Neck imaging may be confirmative. A neurological consultation may be helpful.
