Cannot answer: This is a young man and this may be normal for him, he may have a right-to-left heart shunt, a high affinity hemoglobin, sleep apnea or some other cause of mild hypoxia, be taking anabolic steroids, have an erthropoietin-producing tumor. Most people get occasional oral ulcers. The reference range is set so that several percent of healthy folks fall outside.
