i have a small painful lump on my upper leg that is swollen and hot to the touch. started out as a small lump under skin. size of half dollar now.

Abscess: This sounds like an abscess or collection of pus from an infection. It may have started out as an ingrown hair or infected gland. Until you can see your physician to get it evaluated and treated, use warm compresses on it.
