I had orif in ankle/fib 1 yr ago. recently the plate/screw site is very painful to the touch as well as pain in inner/back of ankle. what could it be?

Hard to say: best to see your surgeon removal of the plate and screws can relieve such pain if all looks healed get it checked out with a physical exam and a new set of xrays to check for and problems with the hardware and for full healing

Why not have : Xrays and see the surgeon? Could be the hardware is irritating you causing you to walk differently. Consider having the hardware removed. At his point it should of performed its job.
