It depends on how-: -serious the sprain & a missed carpal bone fracture, especially the navicular, if not properly treated can lead 2 chronic pain, and a possible non-union.Munion . many times missed on initial imaging.

Varies: If it truly a simple sprain, should be resolved by 7-14 days. Just be careful, even serious injuries will start to feel better over time, but that does not mean they don't need further care. A scaphoid fracture is a good example in which people can injure their wrist and believe it is a simple sprain, but if it is not taken care of correctly may need multiple surgeries.

A wrist sprain can : Mild or subtle or can represent a fairly significant injury. So there is nothing as "just a sprain" just because an initial x-ray s is read as negative. So if persistent pain you need a proper exam and a treatment plan. Depending upon what type of injury healing , who you are and what you do times vary.
