A member asked:

How long should it take a wrist sprain to heal? it's been a week and it's better than the first day. i have lesser pain but still persistent in wrist and upper arm. i can bend my fingers and hold things a little more. hot water bags are soothing?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It depends upon the degree of ligamental sprain. A very severe wrist sprain may take months to fully heal. Less severe pigmented wrist sprains take 1 to 6 weeks. Wearing a wrist brace for another week or so may help you. I agree with warm compresses a few times per day. Some prefer alternating cold with warm compresses.
