A member asked:

Do hct 36% haemoglobin 12.2,esr 26 mean an infection.also having constipation and drop of blood when it comes as a lump also irregular bowels.he is 54?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hi: The Hb/Hct do not reflect infection, the WBC would. The sed rate reflects inflammation and is non-specific. Rectal blood spotting may be from hemorrhoids but he should have a sigmoidoscopy orcolonoscopy.
