McDonald criteria: There are specific criteria for diagnosing MS based on MRI. They also take into account your clinical history. How to address: One lesion does not confirm the diagnosis, as need scattered lesions over brain and/or spinal cord, with both older and newer areas. But if the clinical picture is consistent with MS and you have one lesion, there is an 80% chance of clinical MS within 14 yrs. Recommend repeating films in about 90 days, and maybe obtaining spinal fluid to pin down the situation..
