Nerve compression?: When teeth are lost and not replaced with implants, the bone can shrink/resorb. If your bone has resorbed enough, a nerve may be sitting close to your gums, and your denture could be pressing on it, causing pain. See your dentist about options.

Atrophy, overclosure: It is likely that you have deteriorated the bone in the top jaw , especially under the nose, over the years. If you have lower front teeth, then the trauma over time can be severe. Using adhesive to hold them in during this time, has allowed you to over stress the area and exceed the normal loading range beyond which the dentures would come loose. See a prosthodontist for an evaluation.
