It will feel better: Vaseline or a lip balm will make the lip feel more comfortable while it heals. Blood flow is very high in that area and healing should take less than a week

In addition,: Covering the stitch with vaseline, Will allow the wound to heal from the inside, will prevent drying and subsequently produce less visible scarring
