Dermatologist: I feel that consulting a dermatologist is the best way to obtain an accurate diagnosis and get effective treatment. Persistent or recurrent eruptions around the mouth tend to be long-lasting and don't respond well to nonprescription medications or ointment. Avoid moisturizers containing bees wax as, in my experience, this has been one of the causes of circumoral eruptions.
