A member asked:

Is it a lot of lose 30lbs? 135lbs to 102lbs for a person who is 5'3? bmi?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

First, at 102: pounds you would be far below your ideal weight and at a weight where you may stop having periods and deveope medical problems -- eg diagnosis of anorexia. Secondly, to lose 30 pounds you have to burn off 105,000 calories (3500 calories/pound) that you don't eat. Since you can generally eat about 250 fewer calories/day to achieve a 1/2#/week loss, this would take a VERY long time.
