Staph/boils: Staph is a common skin bacteria so it is possible that it is. Some Staph is resistant to common antibiotics - MRSA (methicillin resistant Staph aureus). It sounds like it needs to be drained and your BF started on oral as well as topical antibiotics - time to see his doctor Good luck.
