Hubby has sore on chin that started as a red bump, then after 2 days turned into tiny blisters. very ithcy and weeping light yellow fluid. now is scabbing some.had same thing happen in same spot a few years ago. staph infection or cold sore?

The description alone could be either of these, or strep infection instead of staph. However, occurrence in the same location suggests herpes (cold sores). Ideally he should see a doctor to confirm, preferably with a PCR test for herpes simplex virus (HSV). If herpes, very effective treatment is available: a single 2 gram dose of valacyclovir is all it takes. Needs Rx; doc may approve by phone.
