Need endoscopy: The diagnosis of inflammatory bowel disease is made by a clinical history, endoscopic findings and confirmatory testing, Although faecal calprotectin correlates significantly with disease activity in people with IBD, it can be false-positive in some conditions. Most importantly, intake of proton pump inhibitors (e.g. omeprazole) is associated with significantly elevated calprotectin value
Created for people with ongoing healthcare needs but benefits everyone.
