PMR: Depends how you tackle disease. I had few patients, stopped Prednisone and doing well. Talk with your doc, do regular therapy and exercise. Good luck.

Controllable.: It's not curable, but it is controllable with medications. The best hope is that the right medical regimen, which may include Prednisone, will put your PMR into a remission during which medications can be stopped.

Long term prednisone: ONce you have it, you will always be prone to it. I do have people that go into remission, but many of these end up having re-occurences. If not treated, it's a potential risk for stroke and blindness.
