A member asked:

What are the symptoms of a shortened tendon? can the tendon become thicker or harder?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Decreased motion: If a tendon is shortened it can become thickened and harder. The result is that there is decreased range of motion. For example if the Achilles tendon is shortened then full dorsiflexion of the foot (moving the toes up toward the head) may not be possible. Physical therappy may be very helpful in working with restoring tendon function.
