Loss of motion: The tendon connects a muscle to the bone. If a tendon ruptures, the muscle will no longer move the joint.
Dr. M Felix Freshwater

Pain weakness: Tendons are attached to muscles. Usually it's the muscle that tears. Either way you lose strength and motion in the effected joint.

This is not hip bone connected to thigh bone....a tendon serves as the attachment of a muscle to a bone. A tendon rupture is often times proceeded by pain, swelling, bruising, weakness or loss of function. It really depends on what tendon is torn and what part of the body. More common tendon ruptures include hamstring ruptures (partial or complete), rotator cuff tears, achilles tendon tears, patellar tendon tears and tendon ruptures of the hands and feet. Again, just depends on location and tendon involved.
