Decreased motion: Particularly the ability to voluntarily actively move an isolated finger joint or a change in the resting position or posture of the hand or wrist could mean a tendon rupture. The exact mechanics of course vary by location within the hand. A tendon rupture nay be sudden or gradual from attrition and may or may not be painful depending upon the mechanism . Local swelling may precede or follow.
