Possibly: There are several types of anemia, which are categorized as macrocytic, normocytic or microcytic (size of red blood cells); hyperchromic, normochromic or hypochromic (concentration of hemoglobin respective to red blood cell size). Normal hemoglobin/hematocrit range: 13.5-15/40-45. Acute blood loss due to gastrointestinal bleeding usually presents as normocytic, normochromic anemia.
