Shingles pain and: Diverticulitis pain are probably not related because different nerves are affected. Costochondritis pain and shingles pain maybe yes, because they can be same or similar nerve. Consult your doctor for specific advice.

No.: Shingles is not related to diverticulitis or costochrondritis. Shingles is caused by the virus that causes chicken pox. The virus remains dormant in nerve roots along our spine.For unclear reasons the virus begins to multiply and travels along the nerves in the skin causing a rash and pain. Diverticulitis is an infection involving pockets in the wall of the large intestine.

Unlikely it's zoster: Shingles or zoster is associated with nerve pain - but that typically occurs during and right after the outbreak. Usually elderly folks are the ones who have lingering pain. There must be some other cause for your current pain symptoms. I do wonder 'why' you had shingles though at such a young age-assuming it WAS shingles. Best to have an ID doc investigate your immune system- maybe there's a fix.
