A member asked:

My labrum is torn 10 to 5 oclock. pain in shoulder blade area, around neck and at joints of collarbone. i am 64. shoulder unstable. do i need surgery?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes if unstable: The neck and shoulder blade pain can be a sign of lower cervical disk disease. The pain you are describing may be a combination of more than one problem. A torn labrum does not always require surgery. If the shoulder is unstable then you will require surgery to control the pain and prevent further shoulder joint damage. If the tear was due to trauma it is also more likely to require surgery.
