Back pain: A CT scan of the lumbar spine is a better imaging study to determine if the fusion is solid and the hardware is not broken or loose. Arthritis and back pain can occur at the level above the fusion (L3/4) or below the fusion (sacroiliac joints). See your spine surgeon for evaluation.

See Orthopedics: You may need imaging of your back due to the change in your symptoms, i.e. worsening back pain - but you should follow up with the Orthopedic surgeon that did the surgery for a physical exam and maybe labs.
