Had fusion l4-s1 feb 14. back is now grinding w/increased pain, so my surgeon ordered an mri. can he see from an mri what is making the grinding feel?

Fusion: it is quite possible he will be able to tell from the MRI whats going on however if you had a metal fixation ti may interfere with the quality of the scan
