Cirrhosis: This question cannot be answered without knowing the cause of your Dad's hepatic dysfunction. If the damage to his liver was due to an ongoing process it may become progressively more severe. He should be evaluated and be sure he does not have a chronic hepatitis which is treatable and potentially curable. Best wishes and good luck.
