ATF ligament: I am assuming the ATF is the anterior talofibular ligament. It is the most common ligament to tear with an inversion foot injury. If you could bear weight on the foot after the injury and don't have bone pain to touch at the outer ankle or outer side of that foot. It will probably heal ok on its own. These are c

Ankle injury: Two answers. Yes it is a complete tear. Surgery? it depends on how unstable or painful as you heal and rehab and what you do physically as well as other medical conditions. 10 to 30% of surgeries have chronic post op complications. You and your doctor need to consider and benefit.
