Had endoscopy, no ulcer but abnormal mucus cells and biopsy performed. what is md looking for? also high level of inflammation found.

Cellular changes: I'm assuming that you had an upper endoscopy so please excuse me if my answer doesn't apply. The MD sends those biopsies to see if there is evidence of pre-cancerous or cancerous cells. I'm also assuming the "high level of inflammation" may be felt to be related to stomach/esophageal injury due to excessive stomach acid in places where it shouldn't be. Please discuss with your MD about clarifying.
