The other possibility is a lymph node if this in the groin area. One look is worth a 1000 words, and a GP should be able to give you a definitive diagnosis.

Lump: There are a number of types of soft tissue masses, some benign, and some malignant. If there is pain involved, you should get it checked ASAP. In the inguinal (groin) region, this could be a solitary, isolated mass or it could be an enlarged lymph node, which could signify other disease, infection, or even a cancer that has metastasized. The only definitive diagnosis will come from biopsy.
