Accurate: The test for HgbA1c done properly is very accurate. The meter are not. Make sure that you have calibrated your meter with the test strips and try again. Take the test first thing in the AM. If that does not work try a new meter

A1C is accurate: However it measures average serum glucose over a 3 month period. An A1C of 5.8% equals an average glucose of about 115-120. Your meter may not be far off.
