A member asked:

What to do if neck artery is 85-90% block.. next surgery or the angioplasty procure done with her artery being 85-90% blocked?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Carotid disease: We generally do not recommend surgery for carotid disease without symptoms. If a patient has high degree carotid stenosis and symptoms compatible with that lesion, surgery might be considered. Such surgery would require an experienced and effective surgeon in the procedure. If present in a patient, the discussion of appropriate therapy should take place with the attending Doc.
