Complex: If completely blocked, surgery would be fruitless, and even lead to possible brain hemorrhage. We also ponder value of surgery for even incomplete occlusions in older folks as our anti platelet drugs such as Aggrenox may be of better value. Talk to the docs about prevention, which might also include a statin and an ace receptor blocker.

Complicated: Medical management is most often Aspirin or Plavix (clopidogrel) and cholesterol lowering drugs. Surgery or less commonly stenting is controversial and typically not recommended for a narrowing less than 75%.
