A member asked:

Can you tell me about normal for my tongue piercing to swell after 3 months?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Probably from trauma: If it is not red and painful with exudate, it is probably swollen from traumatizing it. It should no longer be swollen at three months. Try not to play with it or bump it with food. Putting something cold on it, like an ice pack, might help. Otherwise, take the metal out of it for six weeks and see if that helps. If it is red, swollen and painful, see your doctor.
