Inflamed areola: Keep pumping, use warm compresses and if pain continues see your doctor for possible antibiotics

Warm compresses: generally swollen glands with breastfeeding/pumping are due to engorged milk ducts. Heat to the area is a good option as is hand massaging and expression watch for spreading redness and feeling ill as these can be signs of a breast infection Contact your doctor if any changes in this way

Painful breasts: Painful swelling during breast feeding often improves with frequent warm compresses and continued nursing or pumping. Painful lumps associated with redness and/or fever warrant evaluation by an obstetrician or primary care practitioner. Best wishes
