CNS meds: Wellbutrin (bupropion) and Zoloft have different pathways of action in the central nervous system. They are used together with benefit. However, each patient is unique. The balance of these two, or other CNS meds is uniquely determined by the prescribing doctor. Zoloft increases serotonin in CNS. Wellbutrin (bupropion) improves the presence of norepinephrine and dopamine in the CNS. It does not affect serotonin.

Good combo: Wellbutrin (bupropion) is used to treat depression, improve mood and feelings of well-being and also smoking cessation aid. Zoloft is used for OCD, panic attacks, PTSD. Both are an antidepressant SSRI class of medication. Wellbutrin (bupropion) will increase the level or effect of Zoloft by altering drug metabolism and vise versa.

Yes: Wellbutrin (bupropion) and zoloft are commonly used together these days and are very effective. The combination helps to counteract the side effects such as fatigue or sexual impotence. They usually work together very well but may not work for everyone the same. If they do cause any problems for you call your doctor immediately. Good luck.
