A member asked:

Is 5 days of cipro (ciprofloxacin) taken 500 mg twice daily enough to treat a recurrent bladder infection?

6 doctors weighed in across 2 answers

Enough: For uncomplicated urinary tract infections especially in young women, that dose of cipro (ciprofloxacin) should eradicate the infection easily. A repeat urine culture should prove negative.

Yes: It should be plenty enough for uncomplicated cystitis.I see you are on fluconazole.Did you get a yeast infection? Be sure to empty your bladder after sex and follow doctor instructions. If no cause for recurrence has been diagnosed, and it becomes a problem, your dr may have you take one antibiotic pill after sex.Best wishes.
