I have taken doxycycline and cipro (ciprofloxacin) for a sinus infection. it's not working. what antibiotic should we try now? also lingering bladder infection.

Talk to your MD: Your MD will probably do a culture of both infections to see which antibiotic will work and which ones will not. That test will dictate which antibiotic to try at this ;point.

Penicillin allergy?: How about getting a urine culture for id and sensitivities of organism. Are you allergic to Penicillin? Biaxin (clarithromycin) is another option for penicillin-allergic folks with sinusitis. Sterile saline sinus irrigations (use only distilled water) will also help clear secretions and break up bacterial biofilms.

See your doctor: A new antibiotic probably wouldn't help. Sinus symptoms are mostly from inflammation causing swelling of sinus passages, regardless of the speciifc bacteria or infection. And almost all bacteria in true sinus infection would be covered by cipro, (ciprofloxacin) doxy, or both. Same for most causes of UTI (bladder infection). Bladder problem maybe vaginal yeast due to all the antibiotics. Discuss with your doctor.
