Painful wisdom: If your wisdom tooth is impacted and is painful from that you should see a dentist. Most dentists will recommend removal of the wisdom teeth especially if painful. Eruption time of the wisdom tooth is different for each person and different for each one as well and the length of time of pain associated with it is hence different.

Varies: If the tooth is erupting properly and you have the space for it the pain will last for up to a week but will gradually improve each day..However, if you do not have the space for it the pain from the pressure can linger much longer and than go away but will eventually return. The area where the tooth is erupting can become infected as well so it is important to see your dentist to check it.
