Dry Socket: You may have developed a dry socket (fibrinolytic alveolitis). You should return to the clinician who removed your tooth/teeth and they should hopefully be able to place a medicated dressing which will substantially reduce your pain, if not eliminate it. Even if you haven't developed a dry socket (throbbing, radiating into ear and temple), the sedative dressing will still be relieving.

Please see dentist: A severe headache for a week post operatively requires a re-evaluation of the extraction site. You may have a dry socket, a cracked bone, a sharp edge, or an infection. Er physicians are phenomenal healthcare providers, but may not always catch the nuances of this problem. Call the surgeon who removed the tooth and explain your situation.
