Are blood tests of any use in determining the difference between gout and cellulitis?

The best thing : To do is to tap the joint. Negatively birefridegant crystals is diagnostic of gout. Blood tests can be helpful. An elevated Uric acid level would be more associated with gout than cellulitis. An elevated white count could occur in both. An elevated ESR could occur in both. Gout typically is monoarticular, extremely painful this is part of the giveaway.
