No: I assume "brain cells" means neurons and not any of the several other types of "brain cells." Gradual loss of neurons occurs throughout life. Neurons that are destroyed by disease e.g. stroke do not grow back. Improvement occurs because the brain tries to reorganize itself to take over the functions that were performed by the lost tissue.
