A member asked:

How many brain cells do we lose a day?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Nobody knows: Older folks have fewer neurons than younge folks even controlling for vascular disease. There are some "pop" ideas that assume we lose them at a linear rate beginning at an arbitrary time during the teens. It is more likely that the rate accelerates in later middle age, may or may not be partly avoidable. Take care of your brain -- lifelong learning, overall good health, no substance abuse.
