A member asked:

If you have a cold how do you know, if it is viral or a infection?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Infection: This is a condition caused by another organism, whether virus, bacteria, fungal, parasitic, etc. If you have a typical "cold" with congestion, sore throat, runny nose, etc. it is likely to to due a virus, but if you simply have sore throat you want to be checked to be sure it is not due to Strep infection. Hope this clears soon.
