Surgery: Is the best way to treat renal cancers, and probably the only way to cure it. Certain types of renal cell carcinoma (a type of kidney cancer) can be treated with newer medications such as sunitinib, sorafenib, or everolimus. These treatments are not, however, expected to be curative.
