Unclear: The cause of her headache could be related to her period (hormonal), or of other etiology. If over the counter medications are not helping and it has gone on for so long, you may want to see MD for further exam.

Headaches: See a doctor within 24 hours. Is there vomiting, fever ,visual abnormalities, confusion, response to tylenol, (acetaminophen) motrin? Could be migraines,sinusitis, thyroid disease, diabetes ( I've seen cases), shingles(before the rash-Ramsey Hunt), hormones, sometimes herpes I from cold sores, or rarer conditions like hydrocephalus, pseudotumor cerebri, aneurysms, tumors. Persistent headaches need evaluation
