Depends: Have they figured out why it won't heal (diabetes, infection, poor circulation, smoking, etc)? Finding and treating root cause most logical step if another condition is reason it won't heal. Hyperbaric chamber treatments to increase oxygen to tissues can help sometimes. Have you been seen by a wound care specialist? Also helpful. Hope this helps. Best of luck

Packing...: When a wound won't heal the way it is supposed to along a suture line, it is often left open and packed 1-2 time a day until it closes by "second intention". When the body heals this way, it basically fills in the gap with scar tissue. This process is more time consuming but most wounds will eventually heal. If the wound is very deep, a wound-care specialist will sometimes use a wound vac.
