Depends on Doctor: If your 12 year old daughter did not get fully undressed at her check up this will depend on the provider you take her. If you are asking if she will receive a pelvic exam as a teenager with her first period. Most likely not. It is not necessary if she is having normal menstrual cycle. She will need to start receiving Pap Smear by 21 years.

Physical Exam: A physical exam is not dependent on the age of the patient or the onset of menses. It is important to exam a patient to make sure they are in good health. Your daughter should be made to feel comfortable by her family and her physician. A family member should stay in the room if it makes her feel more and she should remain as covered as possible.
