Not a dangerous #: (said the person who's family has polycythemia). There doesn't have to be anything wrong with a platelet count 30% above nl. BUT any inflammatory state (infection, autoimmune, etc) will generally increase platelets some blood diseases. Without an actual examination, I cannot give specific medical advice on your particular case
