Mumps is a viral illness: Being that mumps is a viral illness the Amoxil (amoxicillin) will not help it. Lymph nodes are very common in children but most of the time are not significant. Giving your child and antibiotic just because there's a large lymph nodes is one of the problems that tends to lead to resistance and antibiotics. You really need someone to look at the child before you start giving antibiotics.
